The Churchlands form the heart of the inner Covenant. The land is divided into provinces, each dedicated to a God and ruled entirely by that God’s church. Most of the land is operated by the Churches of Tvek, Kass, Shen, Mavi, and Eidar, with the church of Tvek being the largest landholder.
Unskilled residents of the Churchlands typically work as farmers or miners. They are allowed to work the church’s land, and in return they are given food, shelter, clothing, and other goods to suit their needs. The church rewards those who please her, and her best servants are promoted to earldom or dukedom and given residents of their own to look after.
The Nobility of the Churchlands control their own block of land (at the church’s pleasure). The farmers who work the nobles’ land are beholden to their lords, who are in turn beholden to the Church. There has been a history of conflict between some noble families and the Church, but ultimately the Church prevails.
